Fall is Definitely my favorite season. Beyond all the September issues of every major fashion magazine, (and the amazing fall fashion itself) it brings about a refreshing change. Where you can appreciate a cool breeze, enjoy staying in a little bit more and relishing getting back into a routine. Now as a mom it has a whole other meaning for me as a routine is apart of everyday (whether it’s summer or not), but more so the amazing activities I get to do with the girls. Last fall was just the beginning as Madison was old enough to actually enjoy the season – going to the pumpkin patch, “helping” carve pumpkins and experience Halloween. But Mila was just a couple months and not at all aware of what we were doing. But this year they are both old enough to enjoy things together, even though Mila is only one, I think she will enjoy experiencing all these new sights with her sister. (She’s just so crazy about her!)
Starting with going to the pumpkin patch and grabbing all kinds of pumpkins for our fall decor, but then there’s roasting the pumpkin seeds (i looooove pumpkin seeds) and maybe if I’m feeling really adventurous I’ll attempt baking a pumpkin pie. (i say this now..) The best thing about the weather getting cooler are the snuggles under blankets, big knit sweaters and campfires. I’m really looking forward to having a bonfire in the back yard and letting Madison have her first s’more. Fall crafts is something we do every year, we always pick leaves that fall in the yard and make all kinds of thankgiving crafts that decorate our tables.
This September really got me thinking of the fact that this will be my last fall with both my girls at home with me. Next September Madison will be starting jk and that thought shook me. My time feels so limited that I just want to take in all our time together and enjoy all the things I won’t have next year. It’s seems so final, like I have this deadline for having both my girls with me, it was a huge eye opener. So I really want to take advantage of every moment we have together, and when Mila is taking her nap try and give more of my time to my little lady.
I got so giddy when I noticed the leaves falling, I quickly got into fall mode – putting summer clothes away, planning thanksgiving and starting fall cleaning. I couldn’t believe how messy the summer makes your home – us walking in and out of the house all the time, all the kids running around with their flip flops on, ice cream stains on clothes and the dead flies found on the window sills just to name a few. It’s funny because last week the weather was so fall, fresh breeze and on and off rain. Not at all like this week which feels like the second coming of summer. I’m definitely not complaining but I did have to pull out some of their summer clothes. But we did get outside to enjoy a flash of fall weather, even though it started raining a little, it was the most spontaneous moment I’ve ever shared with Madison, not running inside but just hanging out and dancing in the rain… and not worrying about our wet socks or boots, just splashing.
Next comes the fall wardrobes and shopping, I’m so excited for that of coarse. I’m excited to be taking a much more minimalist approach and trying a capsule wardrobe. I’ll be talking all about that in my next post!
