Nesting: 5 tips for a quick Fall Home refresh

And just like that, Fall has come!

Hello friends. This is my first post since the middle of the summer!  I found myself so focused the last two months on 1) enjoying every bit of summer while Madison was home with me and 2) prepare her for school and a new chapter for our family.

But that’s a different story for a different day.

This post is all about a few quick and easy, inexpensive steps I’m using to update my home for fall, making it feel warm and cozy for the season! My favorite season. Being a stay at home mom does affect how much and where we spend our money, it requires me to be a little creative when I would like to spend on things that are a want instead of need. So while I would love to head over to Homesense (my fave!) and load up on all new fall decor – it certainly isn’t realistic. As I’ve always said in my home decor and party planning posts – a little creativity and some DIY goes a long way.

We’re also in the middle of some home updating – anyone whose lived through that knows how chaotic and messy that can be. So bringing in more doesn’t exactly help our situation as we try and redo and reorganize parts of our home. But with just a few easy elements I can still bring Fall into our home without too much planning or shopping!

1. Pick your colors!

Whether you like going for clean neutrals, warm browns with rustic vibes or classic red plaid, find the colors, vibe and theme you’d like to incorporate into your home for fall. You can focus on one room (dining or living room) or your whole main floor – whatever you like. Little details around the entry way, coffee table or mantle in your choice of fall colors easily make your home feel ready for the season.

2. Add some color with real elements

Green Eucalyptus, yellow daisy’s, purple dahlia’s, orange chrysanthemums, white pumpkins and colorful gourds. These are just some of the fall friendly flowers and edibles that you can find everywhere. Pumpkin patches, farmers markets and grocery stores are full of them right now, so load up on some and watch how quickly your home will have that fall feel.

3. Add texture to any room

Printed dining place mats, fluffy rugs, knitted throws, wicker storage and natural planters. Just a few ways to add some texture to any room and elevate your home from cool summer to cozy and warm fall. Making each room a little more inviting and welcoming to sit, relax and sip hot chocolate (or wine for the moms!)

4. Create an ambiance

The easiest way to do this – a seasonal scented candle. Create a lush and warm environment by lighting a pumpkin spice, pumpkin pie or apple cinnamon scented candle. It fills the room with everyone’s favorite fall scents and bring the calm vibes at the same time! Bonus : it acts as decor too.

5. Hang a wreath

They aren’t just for Christmas. A simple fall style wreath creates a fall feel right from the entry of your home if you choose to hang one on your front door. There are also some beautiful ways to decorate your front porch for fall, but this year I’m focusing on the inside. (Were having our entryway redone so that is not my focus)

Even if expenses are tight or time is of the essence, they’re are always little was to ring in a new season. You have to do what’s best for your family and what best fits your lifestyle, but there is always little ways and small details to make your house a home!

So tell me guys, how are you welcoming the fall season? Apple picking, pumpkin carving? Tell me below, I’d love to hear from you!

With Love,

Michelle and the minis xo
