You guys, Fall is HERE! Knits, oversized sweaters, boots and September issues are just a few of my favourite things. Fall fashion really is the most versatile, and fun season to play with your wardrobe. You have way more options beyond shorts and dresses (hello trousers & tweed!) and you aren’t trapped in a parka and clunky winter boots (yet.)
So what I always do in the in-between summer-to-fall season is Layer. Layer. Layer. Cardigans, Blazers and pullovers are some go-to’s to cozy up in.
Layer a Tee, Tank or Cami.
Give your favourite summer tops some new (and extra) life. Spending money on fall items that won’t be used just yet when I can remix items in my closet I have already been wearing for summer. By layering with multiple pieces, you can create a look that is much more fall forward while getting the warmth I may need and can still take layers off if I need to. I love mixing it up and adding more then one layer (like a long cami under a blazer) to really add a cozy fall look even though it may not be full on fall weather.
Cardigans are one of my favourite layers – for obvious reasons! Versatile and comfortable. Here’s one of my favourites from Tula Boutique, trendy but cozy. Since leopard print is very on trend, you can expect to wear it daily. Use code MICHELLE15 for 15% off any purchase you make! Or this lightweight knit cardigan is also perfect for layering all season long – right into spring.
Warm up a Summer Skirt
Add booties, boots, knee highs, tights. Long sleeves, cropped pullover, balloon sleeved blouse. Bodysuit and blazer. I love the endless options, but definitely milk those exposed legs for as long as you can ladies. Before too long, it’s all jeans, leggings, yoga pants or a tailored pant. (which are all great in their own right).
Add OTK Boots!
Lol! Sounds kinda silly but it’s true. Nothing feels more fall then boots, whether their ankle boots, mid calf, knee or over the knee – it instantly creates a polished look outside of summer’s easy flats and sandals.
This romper is light weight enough that I can add layers to it to make it an easy transition into a fall outfit. But even your sleeveless rompers can be layered and paired with a great pair of boots and made into a fall look for you. At the end of the day, the idea is to not spend unnecessarily on items you just don’t need yet. Everything can be remixed and made into a whole new outfit so why not play around with what you got in your wardrobe before shopping for a new one. There is plenty of fall and winter left to splurge on that perfect knit sweater or cardigan or a perfect new pair of jeans, or maybe a perfectly structured blazer. And that is definitely what I am looking forward to…maybe next month!

So, until next time lovelies, I’m going to grab a cozy blanket, light a pumpkin spice candle and plan my fall/halloween decor. Yay!
